The Weekly Nerd 25

Hello Party People! It’s Friday, so now you get to hear my opinions. TAKE THEM ALL!

This looks like a solid followup to the 2010 Alice film. Starring all of the original cast, and some new faces. I think that this will pay homage to the first movie while carrying the story forward. The only thing that I’m really afraid of is the director. His history creds aren’t too great IMO, but the trailer does look good.

I’ll be the first to say that the previous movies are not the best. But they aren’t all bad. I gave this trailer an honest shot and it looks like it’s bringing the story forward a little bit more. The performances by Jeff Daniels and Theo James in the trailer look like they will probably steal this movie.

This movie… I really don’t know what to say. I’m not a huge fan of the first movie, but I understand the themes. I don’t personally think that it needed a sequel…

Is it possible that Thor:Ragnarok will include the first major Female Villian? We have learned that the film will see the four lead characters whisked away to a far off planet. Centered around Thor, Sif, Loki and Hulk, it appears that the film will be include Brunhilde or her more commonly used name of “Valkyrie” and at least two more female roles. Considering how Ultimate-Centric the MCU has been, I think they may follow the Barbara Norris timeline.

Could they be casting Hela (Queen of the dead) or Enchantress? Time will tell. *currently this is rumor, but I like interesting rumors*

snowp

In some TV news, a movie that was AMAZING and didn’t really get a lot of press is being developed into a TV series. Snowpiercer has been optioned by Tomorrow Studios to be adapted to a series. If you haven’t seen Snowpiercer get on that (seriously). It was superb in my opinion. The script is to be written by by Josh Friedman and Executively produced by Bong Joon Ho (the original Writer/Director).

jem

In some “I was pretty sure this would happen” news… Both the new Steve Jobs movie and the “Jem and the Holograms” movie have been pulled from theatres. Jem made an Abysmal $545 per screen on opening weekend, with it’s entire run totaling $2.1 Million. Jeff Bock (Seniour box-office analyst with Exibitor Relations), spoke to Business Insider about Jem:

“This is unprecedented, and shows just how badly this film flopped. Not only is it the lowest-grossing debut for a studio film this year, but it’s the worst all-time – by a considerable margin – for any film released in 2,000-plus theaters.”

civil-war
The Russo’s have announced that the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War is nearly complete. I expect it to debut with Episode seven. I may need to use the washroom, privately, when I see this.
