After months of ARG games, Overwatch memes, and many restless nights trying to figure out who and what Sombra was, Blizzard finally drops the big reveal in all of it’s glory. Say Hello to Overwatch’s newest character, Sombra.
The newest short does a lot to show Sombra in her element. The new stealthy offense character has an amazing set of new abilities that will make her an absolute must for any team compilation. Her first ability, Hack, will allow her to disable opponents or nearby health packs. Sombra will also be a hard target as she has Thermoptic Camouflage that will allow her to hide in plain sight for a short time. She will also be able to get out of tight situations with her Translocator Beacon that allows her to teleport from anywhere back to the Beacon’s location. And finally, what is an Overwatch character without an Ultimate. Sombra has the devastating ability known as EMP which will disable any enemy shields and abilities in a wide area around the character.
Along with Sombra, a new desert map called Oasis was announced and also a new Arcade gameplay mode, which will feature 1v1 and 3v3 game types. Sombra and the Arcade mode will be available on the Overwatch Public Test Region (PTR) server for PC players next week, with a final release for PC and consoles scheduled for sometime in the near future. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait for the Oasis map as it will release sometime in December.
