Raise Your Flag and Fight in Banner Saga 2’s Survival Mode

I think we can all agree that “free” is music to one’s ears, especially where video games are concerned. Stoic and Versus Evil announced today that they will be releasing a new game mode for Banner Saga 2 — Survival Mode — for just that price: free!

Survival Mode is something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while now,” commented John Watson, Technical Director at Stoic.  “This is an entirely new experience within Banner Saga 2.  Our goal was to create a fun, tactical game mode where fans can play from a different perspective which focuses on strategy and the hard cost of death in combat.  We modified how the combat worked from the core game based on feedback from our community and put it through a closed beta to make sure that it was fun.  Thanks again to our dedicated fans for their continued support,” he added.

The new mode challenges players to assemble a combat team of their own from the variety of existing Banner Saga heroes. Once a team is assembled, players will wage war and fight — but take care! Should one of your heroes die, it’s perma-death and they cannot be brought back to life. Should you emerge victorious, you shall gain “Renown” currency and unlock more heroes to fight with you.

You can also constantly improve your team, as Stoic has given players the ability to use the items that are dropped within battle, or using your “Renown” to strengthen your heroes.

All three difficulties have access to Survival Mode, so if you think you’re hardcore enough to handle the most challenging difficulties, earn those bragging rights and try it out!

The free Survival Mode is available now on PC and Mac. Banner Saga 2 is available on Steam, GOG, Humble Store, GreenMan Gaming, EA’s Origin, and various other PC/Mac game stores. So you have no excuse to not try it out!
