It’s been 10 years since the greatest Diablo killer was released. I am, of course, talking about Titan Quest. Well, THQ Nordic has a surprise for anyone who owns any version of Titan Quest on Steam.
You get Titan Quest Anniversary Edition, and you get Titan Quest Anniversary Edition. EVERYBODY GETS A TITAN QUEEEEEST!
All told, according to the publisher themselves. They are releasing the Anniversary Edition to over a million people, free of charge.
But that’s not all: even if you don’t have the game, you can pick up the newest edition for a whopping 75% off during the first week. $4.99 USD, to be specific. That’s less than I paid for the games when I got them on a steam sale.

The Anniversary Edition has been completely reworked from the original release, and includes over 1000 changes. If for some reason you want to read all of the changes, they’ve put out an entire changelog for ya:

As for why they’re doing this? Well, I’ll let THQ Nordic explain it themselves:
One Question: “Why?”
Before someone comes around asking why we give our games out for free (or almost for free if you want), here’s a quick explanation: After our name change from “Nordic Games” to “THQ Nordic”, we wanted a running start for our new identity and had to think about how to begin the new era with the most positive connotation possible (for a publisher).
So, many months ago, we had a conversation in our marketing department which went something like this:
“Guys, what can we do to make people like us and stay with our brands?”
“Easy, we just have to be grateful. Remember, without them, we would be nothing.”
“And how should we show gratitude?”
“Free stuff… I guess. Everyone likes free stuff.”
“Well then, give them free stuff, for f***’s sake”
So, that’s basically where we are now.
All I’ve got to say, is that I am very happy and very surprised. One of my all time favorite games is out again. Thank you THQ Nordic.
