From Skybox Labs (Age of Empires II HD Expansions) comes TASTEE: Lethal Tactics. Here’s the rundown…. Lethal Tactics is a simultaneous, turn-based tactics game. Command a team of mercenaries with precision and anticipate your opponents’ movements to take them down in ruthless, close-quarters gunfights throughout a 30-mission campaign and online multiplayer matches.
Lethal Tactics plays like a turn-based Counter-Strike game utilizing a Company of Heroes isometric style view and Team Fortress looking characters, hence my statement above. You give your units (mercenaries) commands as you and your opponent move to take each other out on gorgeous looking maps. Once you give all of your commands, the turn executes and the units play out the orders you gave. It’s not enough to simply react to what your opponent is doing but rather you need to anticipate, adapt, and always be thinking a few steps ahead; like a game of chess. Now, I did not play Frozen Synapse, nor did I play Door Kickers or XCOM but the developers state that if you liked all of those, you definitely want to check out Lethal Tactics.
Skybox plans to have 12 mercenaries, each with a unique special ability and weapon of choice, to give you the flexibility to devise your own personal strategies, while randomized elements in 10 maps work to keep every match feeling fresh. Recruit a team of your making and execute dramatic gunfights on a mission to take down the Cartel. Out-think, outmaneuver, and eliminate enemies in a fresh take on simultaneous turn-based tactics.
A finalist in the MomoCon Indie Game Award Showcase, TASTEE: Lethal Tactics, definitely looks like one to check out. Feel free to check out the trailer below. The game comes out on May 10th for PC.
