On March 31, 2015; Valve brought Operation Vanguard to an end, and with it launched some changes to weapons that have left both amateur and professional players scratching their head. I will cover the major topics that have generated the most ire from my perspective. These changes are as follows:
http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2015/03/11734/
– Increased price of the M4A1-Silencer from 3100 to 3200 to align the weapon’s price with its utility.
– Increased Tec-9’s damage fall-off to reward players that close engagement distance.
– Lowered Tec-9’s magazine size to 24 to reward more discriminate firing.
– Lowered scoped movement values for AWP and Autosnipers.
– The accuracy of the MP9, MP7, and Mac-10 have been improved.
Changes to the SMGs(MP9, MP7, and Mac-10):
Changes to the MP9, MP9, and MAC-10 may make them a more viable option on second round encounters and possibly during force buy situations. The meta of the current force buy and second round anti-eco currently had teams purchasing a single UMP or P90 if they were going to push to gather information as it doesn’t give too much of an advantage if the player is dropped and the weapon is picked up.
However, with the increased values to tagging and tag stacking (increased tag values on multiple hits), mixed with the increased accuracy; it makes the viablility of speed pushing during an SMG purchase round all the more feasible. It’s an inexpensive buy, with a high rate of fire that can nearly stop your opponent dead in his tracks when they attempt to retreat. I foresee some of the more aggressive teams using this strategy in some of the upcoming tournaments.
Changes to the Tec-9:
Were there really any noticeable changes? I see what they said in the patch notes and to a certain extent I agree, but the biggest issue with the Tec-9 (rekt-9, swag-9, olof-9) was its accuracy while moving. It’s all well and good that I can’t 1 tap people on goose from pit anymore, but when I get in close and run around like a chicken with my head cut off and essentially leave my weapon center at nearly 80% it’s still pretty damned op. Combine that with the tag value increase, and you are still going to demolish anything that you can keep in your crosshair.
Leave me the 30 round mag and increase the movement accuracy fall off and this will level the gun with the other pistols.
