Crytek and Poppermost Launch SNOW on Windows PC

Both the Free-to-play and “Ultimate” Editions of SNOW Are Now Available to Download

Feb. 14, 2019 – Crytek and developer Poppermost announced today they have officially launched the open world winter sports game SNOW on Windows PC, ending its early access period. Players can now download a free-to-play version or purchase the “Ultimate Edition” for 19.99 USD/EUR on Steam. To celebrate the launch, the “Ultimate Edition” will be on sale for 35% off from Feb. 14 at 8 am PST / 5 pm CET to Feb. 21 at 8 am PST / 5 pm CET. The sale price is 12.99 USD/EUR.

In SNOW, players can explore a massive mountain on snowboard, skis and snowmobile, customize characters with clothing and equipment, and compete in thrilling events. Players can explore the snowy landscape online with friends, too. The game was developed by Poppermost and WastedStudios, who also ported the game to CRYENGINE 5.5.2.

Players who download the free-to-play version get access to: walking, skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling; Tyro Valley (the beginners’ mountain); X Games 2016; a seven-day ski pass for Sialia (unlocked by completing Tyro Valley); and the ability to purchase credits or cosmetic items. The “Ultimate Edition”—offered as DLC—includes access to all mountains, tracks and events, plus all available cosmetics, including skis, snowboards, drones, snowmobiles and mountain props.

New sights await players on all of the game’s mountain ranges. In free-to-play, players can unlock 19 new sightseeing locations, and in the “Ultimate Edition,” players can unlock 47. There are also collectables scattered across each of the game’s mountains just waiting to be found. In free-to-play, there are 39 collectables, and in the “Ultimate Edition,” there are 90. The “Ultimate Edition” now also offers an all new Mountain: X Games Aspen 2018. Players who have previously spent five dollars/euros or more in-game in the past will receive the “Ultimate Edition” DLC shortly after launch.

“We’re happy to be collaborating with Poppermost on this exciting project. As Poppermost licensed CRYENGINE for SNOW, we have closely followed its development from the beginning, so of course we offered to step in to help Alexander Bergendahl, as well as to support a great community of SNOW players in seeing the launch of the game,” said Crytek CEO Avni Yerli.

The SNOW team has used Crytek’s game engine CRYENGINE since the project’s conception. “CRYENGINE gave us the power to create such stunning landscapes and great gameplay, and the collaboration with Crytek has really taken SNOW to the next level,” said Poppermost Founder and CEO Alexander Bergendahl. “It’s a really fun game, and I think players are going to love hitting those stunning mountain landscapes.”

Christian Soellner, Managing Director at co-developer WastedStudios, adds, “It has been a pleasure to work together with both Alexander Bergendahl and Crytek’s CRYENGINE team throughout the process of porting SNOW to CRYENGINE version 5.5.2, finalizing the game, and polishing game performance.”
