I hadn’t heard of Maingear prior to seeing the below release, so I cannot speak to their quality as a purveyor of silicon wares, but the New Jersey company has launched a line of PCs called “Vybe” that they claim will be VR-ready out of the box.
Maingear is offering two Vybe computers — Stage 1 and Stage 2. The Stage 1 offers up Skylake 4 processors and dual-channel DDR4 RAM for $999 USD, while the Stage 2 gets you a Broadwell-E 6-10 Core processor and quad-channel DDR4 RAM for $1599 USD.
Interestingly, Maingear also offers financing — not an option I’ve seen available online before. You can get the VYBE Stage 1 starting at $23/month, and the Stage 2 starts at $38/month. (Although, as your local Concerned Old Man, I should remind you of that old advice when it comes to big purchases: finance things that appreciate, buy things that depreciate.)
