BaseLAN
Twice a year AYBOnline hosts a weekend-long event called BaseLAN; typically occurring in the spring and fall. In August 2003, BaseLAN became a public entity and drew 34 gamers who competed in a two-day Counterstrike, and Halo tournament. Currently, BaseLAN hosts 7 major PC tournaments, including: DotA 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike GO, StarCraft 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Loadout, and TrackMania Nations; as well as, 5 Console tournaments, including: Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma, Super Smash Bros Melee, and Halo 4.
Prizes for these tournaments include: computer components (video cards, motherboards, cases), gaming peripherals (headphones, gaming mice, gaming keyboards), as well as special edition video games, and related merchandise. All prizes are donated by our beloved sponsors or provided by AYBOnline.
But not to worry, BaseLAN isn’t all about white knuckle competition, it also hosts a variety of ultimate-super- awesome competitions, such as: Minute-to-win-it, Best Case Mod, Worst Case Mod, Dance-off contests, and Heavy Metal Musical Chairs, for those who have a little more fight left in –em.
Recently BaseLAN has included a Demo Zone which allows attendees a chance to get their hands on new technologies. Such as; the Oculus Rift virtual reality helmet, and Leap Motion hand tracking sensor. The Demo Zone also gives sponsors and chance to highlight there newest products and services. With continued growth in this area, BaseLAN will mature into an electronics expo in hopes to become the ‘go to’ event in the future for tournaments, product releases and previews.
