The Weekly Nerd Review – 01

Terminator Genisys: I am personally not a big fan of the series, but the trailer looks good. I know lots of fans that are excited about the movie. Emilia Clarke definitely looks like she will be able to pull off the role, though I am still on the fence about Jai Courtney. I liked him in Spartacus, but his next few roles have all been pretty bland IMO. We shall see if he has the chops to be a part of a blockbuster like this, since his next big role is in Suicide Squad.

Mad Max: Fury Road: I like the casting choices, this movie looks like it will be really good. Will be an epic to the caliber of the previous Mad Max movies? Only time will tell. I’ve had a man-crush on Tom Hardy since Warrior, and I would love for him to land something that can be a recurring role. He has already defined his career with so many great roles, I’d love for him to get this kind of work.

Jurassic World: How many movies can we make about people being stupid and cloning dinosaurs? I feel this movie is going to disappoint. That being said, The trailer is kind of cool. The information given in the trailer seems almost too much (Super Genome dinosaur commanding other breeds of dinosaurs?). I love Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard is great, but I can’t see this movie being anything but shock and visuals. It might prove me wrong, you never know.

X-men: Apocalypse: There has been much speculation on the next X-Men movie and how they are developing the storyline, here are some set photos and art that have been released showing the new cast:

I have enjoyed the path that the new breed of X-Men movies is heading. The concept art I’ve seen of Ancel/Arcangel has me hopeful. The new cast looks good in those photos, though I have never been a huge fan of the young / original X-Men series (personally I’ve been more a fan of the comic books where they are older).

Star wars: The only thing I can say about this teaser trailer is: OMG OMG OMG. They are doing a great job with the teasers. I said this to my friends, I would be 100% ok with them releasing 1-2 more teasers like this and not having a full length trailer. Keep that hype alive! Did you catch all of the easter eggs? The line of “my father HAS it” in the voice over might have given me a woody, maybe.

Hulu made some big announcements this week naming off some exclusive SVOD content to be released soon. Among them, the entire back catalog of CSI as well as a very expensive purchase of Senfeld. Will it be worth it? Only time will tell:

Audi released a short/commercial about actors and cameos. The best is that it stars Stan Lee and he still manages to make a cameo in it. Yeah, you read that right.
